Apples Wonderlust event shows off the future of the Iphone

10/3/23 - Apple revealed their new iPhone 15 set of products last Sunday at their “Wonderlust” event with new products that are focused on being more carbon neutral and feature USB-C charging ports as major selling points.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook revealed the products and more at an Apple event live stream to multiple platforms like YouTube and the official Apple website.

He introduced the new iPhone model and then passed it over to Apple's VP of Worldwide Product Marketing at Apple Kaiann Drance who introduced the product's design and new innovations. While the iPhone 15 had incremental improvements to most of its design, Drance put extra attention on the new model's use of recycled materials within the phone.

“The enclosure uses 75% recycled aluminum. Drance said during the presentation. “For the first time, we're using 100% recycled cobalt in the battery and 100% recycled copper foil in the main logic board and MagSafe charger.”

All of their new products feature some form of new recycled metals that were not there last year. The use of recycled products is part of Apple's goal to go carbon neutral by 2030 and this year they have taken a leap into doing that while. All of these new features will be good for the future, as Apple guarantees those who will buy it like those on college campuses, will not hurt the earth as much as they did in the past.

Another new feature, the use of USB-C charging is also contributing to carbon neutrality, as it will decrease the waste the company will create due to having a different charging port than their competitors. This comes after the European Union put pressure on Apple to make this decision by passing legislation requiring phones sold in Europe to feature USB-C. This will be a great feature for students and other avid phone users who likely now only have to use one type of cord for all of their charging needs.

Apple also called attention to their phone's performance with their new A17 pro processor. The processor should allow for higher graphics performance Apple claimed, and is supported by them announcing that Playstation 4 console game Death Stranding by Kojima Productions was coming to many of their major products including the iPhone 15. This will likely also be a great feature for those who want gaming on the go like students.

Samsung, competitor to Apple, has also committed to going carbon neutral by 2050.
